Distance 1 mile (2 mi. round trip)
Elevation change 400 ft.
So, we’ve decided that we like this whole hiking thing, and we’re ready for more abuse. For now, though, we’ll be taking our abuse in smaller, more manageable doses. Bald Mountain is another rocky trail with plenty of roots, and beautiful along the way as well as at the top.
We lost track of the trail markers on the upper parts of the mountain, and wandered around on the intertwining trails, but found our way back on course shortly. A few other hikers said they had done the same thing, so we felt a little better about it. The weather was perfect that day, and the view was not so hazy. A fire tower provides an even better angle for taking pictures. It was a quick, easy hike, perfect for a less grueling workout. (To view all the pictures, click here.)
