Driving, Jeep Repairs and More Driving

We continued into Utah, another state with beautiful scenery, and landed in Provo where we spent a few days at a hotel while waiting for Jeep repairs at the dealer.

We started having problems in Texas, but didn’t find a dealer that could do the work promptly until this point.  We did speak with someone at the dealership in Prescott, Arizona, but they couldn’t get us in until almost a week later.  He did at least assure us that this issue isn’t one that would cause a breakdown and leave us stranded somewhere.  One of the cylinder heads warped and needed replacing, which is apparently a common problem in the 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.  This was the first year built with the 3.6L Pentastar engine.  The vehicle is still under warranty, so no cost there aside from the few days at the hotel.

After leaving Provo, we continued north through Salt Lake City, getting a glimpse of the lake, and then on into Idaho.

Idaho is home to miles upon miles of potato fields, and there’s even a potato museum.  We went to Idaho Falls, viewed the falls and park there, and got a hotel room for the night before heading for Yellowstone.
