Well, it’s high time for me to get back with the program,
here! I can’t believe it’s been about 4
years since my last post, and that until now I had only made 7 posts. It seems like I had put a lot more work than
that into this blog thing, and frankly, it just doesn’t seem like that long
ago. The reality is that we’ve done a
bit of camping and hiking that I just haven’t shared here. However, in the spirit of revamping, I
changed the name and look of the blog, and I’m very excited about that!
So, let’s get caught up a little bit. 2010 was a big year for us. We did a fair amount of camping and
exploring, but we also moved about 1300 miles away to our new home. That kind of a move required a lot of time to
prepare for and execute. Of course, many
things in life don’t go as perfectly as one would plan, so the move was
labor-intensive on both ends, and it took quite a long time for the dust to
settle and for us to get somewhat organized in the new place. There have been a few significant lifestyle
changes for us, as well. Unfortunately,
that means we’ve had many fewer opportunities to go exploring since our move,
and I’m pretty sure we’re suffering from withdrawals. Anyway, all of those things combined means no
writing about any of it.
The winds are shifting now, and we should have a little more
adventure slowly coming back into our lives, we hope. And oh, how we’ve missed it! The peace and serenity that comes with being
out in nature, and the excitement of experiencing new places and things brings
us awe and contentment. It quiets our
minds and provides relief from the daily grind, the hustle and bustle, the
annoyances of phones ringing and people wanting things from us, the driving in
traffic and the days filled with deadlines.
We see the world through new eyes, and look at things great and small
with wonder and amazement, pondering the simple beauty of this earth and all
there is yet to be discovered and explored.
I can’t wait!
