Our summer vacation
consisted of stays at two of our favorite places – Moose River and Lewey
Lake. In Moose River we took a spot next
to Sumner stream, and were later joined by The Amy & Dan Clan (which
includes them, their son Daniel and their dog); they took the next campsite up
the road. They told us they’d heard
reports of moose sightings at Helldiver Pond, so we walked in to the pond to
check it out. The moose is there in the
early morning hours, though, so no luck for us.
On a future visit we’ll have to set an alarm so we can go see him!
We always hear
ravens when we’re there, and usually see them too. However, they have proven difficult for me to
get pictures of, and fly away every time we get close to them in the Jeep. I finally managed to get three pictures,
albeit from farther away than I wanted.
Ken and I did a hike
at Bear Mountain, and early in the hike we passed a deer grazing within about
fifteen feet of the trail. Although she
was not bothered by our presence, every single picture I took of her came out
blurry.
As is customary, we
did get rained on. We are always
prepared for it, though, and kept mostly dry under our ponchos.
The second portion
of our camping was spent at Lewey Lake with Adam & Jacqui and their son
Kaden. We rented two sites in a
different spot than our usual favorite site.
Most of our time was spent relaxing.
We did go for a walk or two as well as a short ride nearby. We all spent some time at the beach, and the
guys (all three) went in for a swim.
Jacqui and I just waded around, and the water was a nice
temperature.
Back at the campsite (we
hung out mostly at theirs) we chatted, ate, and fed the ducks.
Oh, yeah, and after dinner there were
Smores! It’s tradition when with Adam
& Jacqui! Take a look at the rest of the photos! Moose River, Lewey Lake 7/25/12 - 7/31/12
